Thirteen-year-old Jack Lund and his mother travel to the town of Memory where Jack meets, for the first time, his mother's father--a man on his deathbed. When Jack is introduced to his grandfather, he is shocked when the weak man tries to strangle him and says Kill you. Kill you. Kill you again.

Later, while staying at his grandfather's house, Jack finds a mysterious door that allows him to travel into the past. When a family tragedy occurs, Jack decides to travel into the past in order to prevent this event. However, once he's in the past, Jack loses his memories of the future. How can he stop something he now knows nothing about?
