This is volume 2 of a shojo manga (Japanese female-oriented graphic novel) series that reimagines various characters from previous CLAMP titles. Young archaeologist Syaoran and his companions, the ex-wizard Fai, and the temperamental ninja Kurogane, have traveled through the dimensions to the Hanshin Republic, searching for the pieces of missing memory belonging to Syaoran's true love, Princess Sakura. In this world, everyone is accompanied by a kudan, or powerful magic spirit, and roving gangs often challenge one another's kudans to duels in the street. Such challenges could prove dangerous to the travelers...or may be the very thing that leads to the next memory shard. The black-and-white art focuses tightly on the attractive characters, who spend most of this book engaged in vibrant action sequences. The book reproduces the original Japanese right-to-left orientation, and includes a short glossary of Japanese honorifics, notes about the translation, and information about a CLAMP series referenced in this volume, X/1999.
